Deleting internal HDD partitions and mirroring SSD

Were talking a new build here. I initially partitioned the 1TB HDD for data storage and to mirror the SSD containing the C drive. I balked when this would make both dynamic drives and potentially hose my HDD data storage options. So I would like to wipe the partitioned HDD and just use it as data storage, add a similar SSD to the case and mirror the two SSD's to grant options should the primary SSD crap out. Sound like a viable plan? If so, what is the best way to wipe the HDD to get rid of the partitions? TIA....

A mirror (RAID 1) will actually slow down the write operations

A much better way would be just to create images of that C drive, on a regular basis.
Macrium Reflect will make a full disk image, off to another drive, on a schedule you set.
In the rare event the SSD actually dies, simply designate another drive to be the C, and use the image to port onto that drive. Takes about 20 minutes for a typical size C drive.

On my system, I have the C drive imaged every night at 2AM. Keep 2 weeks worth, automatically deleting the oldest.
In case of need, I could go back to any image made in the last 14 days.

A 'mirror' as you are suggesting doesn't give you that. All you have is 'right now'.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Sounds mo' better. I was just reading up on system imaging in Win 7 as I already have an HDD partition that matches the size of the SSD. I'll take a gander at the software you're recommending and we'll go from there....

This is the backups of my C drive:

Tonight at 2AM, the 2 Nov gets deleted and the 16 Nov gets created.

Other data is backed up differently, but a similar sort of schedule.
