I gave my old (pre built) gaming PC to my brother which can still play most older games. Basically we are wondering if we can put a modern GPU for 1080p gaming with modern games with a GTX 1050ti or GTX 1060 on a core i7-870. Would this work for decent gaming and not bad bottleneck or choking issues? Here is a full spec sheet of the old rig. https://www.cnet.com/products/gateway-fx-6840-15e-core-i7-870-2-93ghz/specs/ If the card would work okay with it I will add more RAM and a cheap small SSD. If it doesn't work I'll tell my brother he'll need to start saving up to build a new PC.
My new rig I built last year is a modern i7-6700k/GTX 980ti hooked up on a 2K monitor Needless to say my brothers are jealous and want to game with me lol.
Thanks for the help and your input guys.
