Update: I am referring to the "m" drive. That is the 4 TB drive I am having trouble with. It currently says the capacity is 148.92Gb.

Today, I converted it to GPT but still no difference.

----
This is the second internal hard drive I've bought and installed (same make and model). The only thing i did different was unplug and used the sata cable that connected my internal blue ray player to the motherboard to connect my internal hard drive b/c I didn't have a spare sata cable like i had for the first one I bought.

I apologize in advance if I didn't provide enough information or was too vague. hopefully the screen shots will offer better insight.

I've tried every solution to similar problems I have found online. Is it a bad drive? the cable i am using was originally connect to the blue ray player but is now connected to the internal hard drive, could that be the problem? should I find a different port on the motherboard? Is there a software solutions I am not aware of? Those are the questions in my head.

Hi there abealem,

You will need to check how is the drive recognized by BIOS. If it is recognized as having less storage space than 4 TB, there may be something wrong with it. Also, you need to go to Disk Management and see how is the drive recognized over there as well. Some screenshots would be of help.
Make sure the drive is initialized as GPT, as quazzi said.

Attaching the drive with different SATA cable to another port would not hurt as well. You can use the one of your main drive.

Let us know how this goes,
D_Know_WD :)

Thank you for your quick response. I am not at home at the moment but when I do, I will check the BIOS & i'll check if it is initialized as GPT. The screen shots links I posted with the original question is not showing up. I'll post it again.

disk manager: https://www.drive.google.com/file/d/0B3BA5t_uAqSwREJCMVpvTkZBVjg/view?usp=sharing (BTW, when I create a "New Volume" it does recognize the full capacity. When I finish the process it doesn't.)

You apparently forgot or were unaware that your system also contains a 160 GB drive (presumably a HDD) that Disk Management would indicate contains 149.05 GB of disk-space.

DM also indicates your system contains two (2) 4 TB HDDs that are apparently GPT-partitioned.

You ought to get it clear in your mind the drives configuration in your system.

1. Your boot drive C: is a 512 GB drive - presumably a SSD.

2. Then there's a 160 GB HDD presumably MBR partitioned - your M: drive.

3. Your F: drive is a 2 TB HDD - presumably transferred from an XP installation I would guess.

4. Then you have three (3) 4 TB drives, H:, I: & J:, presumably each GPT-partitioned.

5. There's a 500 GB G: drive also hanging around somewhere that contains a considerable volume of data.

6. Let's see...that's nine (9) drives, but where's an "L:" drive? I can't find an "L:" drive! I must have missed it, no?

We'll give this one more shot...

Please try to understand. The HDD you mistakenly think is a 4 TB HDD is a Western Digital (WD) 160 GB HDD. Your other 4 TB HDDs are just fine. That WD 160 GB HDD is your "M:" drive. If you open up your PC and review all the HDDs installed in your system you will find the 160 GB HDD connected. The total disk-space capacity of a 160 GB HDD is 149.05 GB, just what Disk Management is reporting for that disk. Capiche?
