XP system volume is now lower, after using CCleaner? Realtek HD Audio

Hello,

One of my computers is an XP, and recently, I'd used a recording software to capture video + voice. It was CamStudio, but which software it was is irrelevant and I will explain why it's not a factor.

I'd already recorded one video with my mic accepting both my Mic Volume, and, Stereo Mix in the Realtek mixer. This was the easiest way for me to record (CamStudio can only seem to record your mic.)

However, playing the game at max volume (or even 50% volume), was way too loud in the recording, AND, it was picking up a lot of "fuzz" from the stereo mix being too high. So, I kept re-testing my recording, lowering my system volume each time (the normal, volume icon in the systray). And, eventually, sort of funnily, I discovered that sliding my volume all the way down to OFF, and then tapping the up arrow ONCE (which would set the volume at "1" I guess), was actually the perfect volume for the game for the recording. AND, I could actually hear the game volume, only being at "1" volume! I could also hear the Windows "donk!" sound when I tapped the up arrow once, to set the volume from off, to "1".

So, the recording was all good, the video had a good balance of voice volume and game volume. That video is done.

Last night, I ran CCleaner and restarted my computer. Now, my system volume is lower than before. This is why I know CamStudio (& its settings) isn't a factor, because... when I go back to my volume slider, slide it all the way down to off, and then tap up arrow once, I don't hear the "donk" sound anymore. In fact, I have to tap the up arrow around 25 times before I can even hear the "donk" sound, now, when before, I heard it on the very first press, which means my volume is now lower than before, for some reason.

I use a headset (a simple, green/pink jack one, not a USB headset), and I made sure I didn't bump the volume knob on the headset- it's still at max. I checked all the volume sliders that I know of to check, they're all max.

Note: The high volume I had before was definitely not because of the Equalizer settings in RealTek audio. I never touched those, but just to be sure, I set them all to max, and I STILL couldn't hear the donk sound of the up arrow in the windows volume slider (until about the 20th key press). I feel like there was a "system volume boost" setting that was enabled for me before, and I might've erased a setting while using CCleaner?

The reason that this is an issue is now my volumes are different - I want to record another video of the same game, but even knocking the windows volume slider up "30 bumps/up arrow presses" is still actually quieter than in my first video recording, where there was only 1 up arrow press on the volume, and I'd like to not have my volumes differ between the two recordings.

Any ideas would be very appreciated, thank you for your time

Oh, oops. I had this problem a couple years ago and I'd forgotten the solution, which was to just re-install the audio driver. This has restored the original volume levels.
