Hello all,

So, I bought a computer from a guy on craigslist. The parts are:

i7-2600k (3.5 Ghz) @ 4.2 Ghz, not maxed out on the overclock
PNY GeForce GTX 960 OC 2gb (Unchanged)
16 gigs (4x4) Corsair Vengence RAM
1000w PSU
Z68X-UD7-B3 Gigabyte Motherboard
Corsair H60 Cooler as well as 4 fans on the case
1 TB HDD
250gb SSD (for windows 10)

All these parts are in great working order, the only thing I replaced was the GPU from a Gigabyte GTX 580 SOC 1.5gb

The problem is that at some points, and not consistently from what I've experimented with, the screen will black out and come back about a second later when I switch screens in google chrome. It also causes a spike in the GPU voltage, power consumption, memory, and core clocks

This happened with the 580 as well as the 960. I've tried to up the voltage slightly on both of those because I read on another forum that this could help, but it didn't change anything.

I've also done a fresh install of Windows 10, done disk de-fragmenting and virus/malware out the yin-yang.

Any ideas?

Solution
I believe I found the answer. In google chrome, as well as other applications, the hardware acceleration is causing the board to overload for a split second and then recover. Turning it off, it hasn't happened again.

Reinstall the drivers, if it doesn't work, download an older driver and test again.

If you have another computer to test it out on, go ahead and try. If the voltages and others are spiking up, might be some power surges from your Power Supply ,so check the connection of the power supply also.

After these are done, please report back.

I am running 362.00 having tested the other drivers and them not being nearly as stable. The blinking still happens, but not as much.

The PSU connection is tight all along the paths. I thought it might have been because I had it plugged into the power strip instead of the wall, but it is still blinking.

Tested inside of another computer? Does it still give you the same results?

Unfortunately I do not have another computer to test it with, but it's happened with 2 different GPUs.
