Swapped HDD for SSD - No longer boots unless you enter and save BIOS configuration

I have a HP Pavilion (product # M1Y24UA#ABA that originally came with a HGST 1TB 5400RPM SLOW drive. I have replaced the HDD with a Sandisk SSD (but am having an issue on boot up. From a cold boot, the system immediately displays

Boot Device Not Found
Please install Operating System
HD (3F0)

Pressing F10 I enter the BIOS configuration and immediately press F10 to save and exit. The system boots normally at that point.

Not sure why this happens. I am running the latest BIOS for this machine - Insyde F.82
I am not a guru as you con tell, but am capable of following instructions. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there, carlsonjr.

Well, we should start with the basics here (just as with any other case regarding a possible issue with a drive) - backup your important data, just to be on the safe side. After that download an SSD diagnostic tool to test it and see if there's anything out of the ordinary.
Another option would be to give it a try with a different computer (as a secondary storage drive or external one) to see if it's always recognized by the BIOS and/or the OS.
You should also check the SSD manufacturer's website for available firmware updates for that drive model.
Try resetting your BIOS/UEFI, to see if that fixes things up.

Hi Boogieman_WD. Thanks for the response! The original HDD is still intact, and is a good backup for any activity involving the SSD at this point. The Sandisk SSD is fine as far as I can tell. If I connect it via a USB port, the drive is seen and can be accessed without issue. There may be a SSD update from SanDIsk, and I will check on that. I have reset the BIOS/UEFI and that doesn't seem to affect anything either. Really really frustrated at this point. Any further ideas readily accepted.
