It is hard to say what clock to try, as every card overclocks different. It is a possibility that some will not even overclock over their rated boost speed at all.
I would recommend bumping up the core clock in MSI Afterburner or similar programs by 50 MHz, run a 3DMark Firestrike benchmark and see if you get any artefacting or crashes. If you are fine, then bump up the core clock by another 25 MHz. Repeat this process until the card starts to either crash or artefact, then dial it back a little.

You can also do the same process for Memory Overclocking, but this provides much less performance increase for the stability lost.

On the note of increasing the voltage, I would not worry so much. The BIOS on the card prevents you from...

On the note of increasing the voltage, I would not worry so much. The BIOS on the card prevents you from turning up the voltage too much, and the chance of damaging anything is extremely low. As long as the temperatures are okay, I always modify the voltage and power limit on my card, to get better overclocks.
