Basically, I'm wanting to put my modem/router downstairs near the main phone line with a shorter better quality cable to improve speeds. we tested it with the engineer from our ISP and its at least 30% faster. I have an ethernet wire hooked up to my room but I have an Xbox one, ps4 and a laptop which I would like wired would this product still give me the speed I'm reading from the router or does it slow does? https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-TL-SF1005D-Unmanaged-Desktop-Switch/dp/B000FNFSPY/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_t

Also, will there be any issues with IP addresses or anything to set up or do you just plug in and everything fine? I appreciate any advice you guys can give me. Thanks in advance.

It won't get you any more internet speed than what your ISP gives you but a faster switch helps for anything you do in your own network. For example, streaming media from one of your machines on the switch to another.

And yes, using an unmanaged switch is generally a plug-and-play thing. (EDIT: assuming there is already a router in your network, which you indicated you have).
