Hi, I'm new to this community and this is my first post, although I have been a frequent visitor for my tech needs in the past.

I'm trying to plan out a £600 - £700 budget gaming build as thoroughly as possible so at some point early next year when I have a job, I can throw this 7 - 9 year old laptop potato away and begin pc gaming; among everyday tasks and use of course.

I would like the advice of the more experienced folks in this community so I can make an informed decision and, most likely, I will be posting other queries further down the line regarding other components. But for now, storage.

Should I purchase:

480 GB SSD costing £100

OR

128 GB SSD (boot drive and essential programs etc.) along with a 1 TB HDD costing £89 altogether, so £11 cheaper.

Bearing in mind that I will be upgrading the SSD at a later date to accomodate more games anyway.

Thanks.

depends on games man... what you playing ? if it is only few games go for 480GB ssd and buy later a HDD ?
If you have a lot of games just buy 120/240GB and 1TB HDD and throw your OS on SSD and rest to HDD

Once it's built, the plan is to upgrade components as and when I can afford to so probably every 3 - 4 months. It's the very first build so I'm not going crazy. I'm just looking for a good, solid 1080p gaming experience on modest settings to tide me over until I can start beefing it up and upgrading storage capacity.

Depending on the answer to my next question, I'm leading more towards the 480GB SSD.

Other than price and the life expectancy, are there any other advantages to a HDD than an SSD?

Most important is just slower speed and some of them are ticking hard.. and also if a HDD gets full you need to defrag to make your performance back to the first days again.
Thats not like what a SSD have no need for defrag and high speed.
