I'm looking to upgrade my CPU from an old A-10 7850k to a newer intel processor. I have been looking for a while, and the i7 6700k and the i5 6600k seem to be the front runners.

At my local parts shop the i7 costs $450cad and the i5 costs $320cad. I do a bunch of 3D modelling, and play a few games (skyrim special edition, Just cause 3, etc.)

I would also need to upgrade the mobo and ram. I want to get everything for $650 MAX. Do you guys have any suggestions.

Current parts list:

Asus Strix r9 380
Amd a10 7850k
Gigabyte ga-f2a88xm-dh3 micro atx
Kingston hyperX fury ddr3 1600 2x4gb
Kingston 120gb
Adata 120gb
Corsair cx-600
Thermal master tc102
2x corsair af120 led fans
Lg optical drive
Windows 10

Thanks a lot.

if you are going to be doing 3d modelling then the I7 is the clear choice. its best to pair it with a motherboard using intels Z170 chipset to get access to fast ram speeds. if you need to save money one way you can do it would be to get the non K version of the I7. you wouldn't be able to overclock with the non K version but you would still get all the performance you get from an I7 CPU
