Taxes in online shopping?

Hi, so I need to purchase a GTX 1060 and I came up with a pretty nice deal on it. My cousins living in America will be buying it for me as Graphics Cards are pretty expensive here. I found the deal on Amazon.com. So, the ad does say free shipping but will they have to pay any kind of taxes when they purchase it?

Solution

Yeah they'll probably have to pay taxes. When amazon didn't have 2 day prime shipping there were only like 4 states that you needed to pay taxes in, but ever since they added that they needed to put distribution centers everywhere so they were no longer shipping across state lines.
Depends on which state you're in. As far as I know, if Amazon has a distribution center in your state then you need to pay sales tax.

These are the states that Amazon makes you pay sales tax in according to wikipedia, so if they're not in one of these states it should be tax free:

Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

I live in New Jersey and when I buy stuff from Amazon I don't have to pay tax most of the time.

Thanks, I just talked to them and they're like there's gonna be 8% taxes.
