Hi Guys,

At the end of the month I'm going to be upgrading the majority of my PC components to a high-end build. Here is the rig I'm most likely going for:

GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 Hybrid

CPU: Intel Core i7 6700k

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VIII Ranger Motherboard

RAM: 2x G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series F4-3000C15D-8GVR 8 GB (4 GBx2) DDR4 3000 MHz
(16GB in total across four 4GB sticks)

CPU Cooler: Corsair CW-9060025-WW Hydro Series H100i V2 240 mm Extreme Performance All-In-One Liquid CPU Cooler

Power Supply (from my old rig) : Akasa Venom Power 750 watt PSU

Case (from my old rig) : Fractal Design Define R3 Low Noise Case - Black Pearl - USB 3.0 Edition

Let me know your opinions on this build! Is anything worth upgrading further?
I want this build to be a high-end and reliable build that will last me for at least 3 years.

Last thing - I don't really care about aesthetics with my PC's so you can rule that area out. If it makes any difference, I'll be using this PC for gaming (spare time) & music/radio production (my job).

Thanks! Hope you can help.

Depending on what kind of editing you do, the i7 is a good CPU of course. If your programs can make good use of more cores however, you could consider a Xeon with more cores for better performance. For gaming a titan-x can do marginally better, not really worth the extra price in my opinion.
You don't mention your harddrives, I reckon you would know a coiuple of SSD's will speed up read/write performance dramatically compared to a mechanical harddrive.

Thanks for this! The type of editing I do isn't overly demanding, from what I've gathered the 6700k should be enough. At least for now anyway, but I'll have a look into the Xeon to be sure.

It's the motherboard & RAM I know less about.

For my hard drives I'm all good, got couple of SSD's & numerous HDD's internal & external that should keep me going for a while.
