Thanks,

GTX 1060 6GB. It's usually held in high regards as the best GPU for the money. In that range you can't beat it, unless you were to get a used 980 Ti for a REALLY good price. Its about the top of that price range, but you'll be able to max out pretty much everything at 1080p with that.

I personally don't like Gigabyte products. I have heard too many people complain about their QC. I prefer MSI and Zotac for GPUs. Asus also makes good stuff but they have a few QC issues as well. If I wanted a 1060 I would get the Zotac AMP! Edition or the MSI Gaming X, they are a little bit more than other cards, but still reasonable, and they perform great.

Then you might not have been looking into it enough. Gigabyte isn't as bad as EVGA though. I will admit either way the chances are small, except the EVGA 1070's which are like 1 in 20 having problems, but I don't like taking chances. Personal preference also keeps me away from Gigabyte. I like MSI, Asus, and Zotac stuff better, but my personal preference is MSI on water, Zotac on air.

I doubt it, but more because of the processor, the GPU should be fine. The processor isn't bad but GTA V is a VERY CPU intense game. If the price is too much a 1060 3GB should be good too. You won't break any records but you will be able to play games pretty well on medium-high settings. Unfortunately if you want to max out stuff you need a bigger budget.

I don't like anything about EVGA, they look boring, and the quality control isn't nearly as good, though the CS is supposed to be great, I would just rather avoid the hassle. Gigabyte is also supposed to have very good CS, though I have never used gigabyte products, because I always hear the QC issues, but one thing about me is that I scare off products fairly easily, if the reviews I see from various places are over about 5% of the products reviews I steer clear. Gigabyte happens to be one of those companies, although they are skirting on that line. Aside from that I would take a Gigabyte product over EVGA, just because of the QC issues I see, however small.

It could be nothing with the brand, but the thing I hear most with Gigabyte stuff is DOA.

Plus the 1060 3GB is ever so slightly better than the RX 470 for a very slightly higher price. For GTA V it would be worth it.

Zotac Mini is $10 out of his budget. Let him decide if it's worth it.

Not much, about 5%. The 970 isn't a bad option either if you can get it for the right price, it has the added benefit of being a 4GB card, which some newer games are requiring in VRAM.

Pros are you'll be able to run most games pretty well at 1080p, medium-high settings, 60+fps. The cons are its a 3GB card, and some newer games are requiring 4GB of VRAM, but not many. But its still better than the 1050 Ti even though that card has 4GB. if you want to play GTA V the 1060 3GB will definitely be better.
