Will a Intel Core i5‑4690K 3.5 GHz Quad‑Core Processor go well with my motherboard?

I currently am looking for an upgrade on my CPU. I game a lot and I am always seeing a problem with the way my CPU is running the game. I am a very large ARMA 3 and 2 player (Both VERY demanding on CPU) and I'm using a AMD CPU. This is my current CPU, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113348 but I'm wanting to upgrade to an i5-4690k. This is my current motherboard, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130741 . How well would these two go together? And would it be worth the upgrade? I have a decent GPU and so I struggle with CPU power. I'm running 630W and if that's not enough it's not a problem for me to upgrade (as I was thinking about doing it anyways). Thanks guys.

It doesn't matter what MOBO you have, that MOBO is meant for AMD which uses PGA while Intel chips uses LGA. So you will need another mobo if you want to use a i5 chip. Not a good AMD person, but I am sure someone would recommend a nice upgrade path if you are not going to change motherboards.

So what would you suggest? I'm trying to go on the cheaper side but I'm wanting a good quality that will run well.

Like I said, I'm not an AMD guy, but I am sure someone else is. But you might just not want to think about any Intel (i3, i5, i7, etc) chips if you are not going to change motherboards.

Wait, do you plan on changing out your motherboard? I read your previoius post wrong. I would recommend an ASUS/Gigabyte motherboard. Are you still trying to get the 4690K? do you already have it? What price have you found for it?

an AMD motherboard does not take an intel CPU and vice versa

like 200$ for MOBO, ect. I'm excluding the i5 out of the price, I know how much that one is so I'm just looking for the MOBO and RAM if needed.

Ok -- assuming you're getting a current i5-6500, and not a legacy CPU --

MicroATX mobo: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/rLs8TW/msi-motherboard-h110mgaming

Regular ATX Mobo: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/wBZ2FT/gigabyte-motherboard-gah170gaming3

If you want to overclock, you need a more expensive i5-6600k, a Z170 motherboard, and an aftermarket cooler.

RAM: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/kkL7YJ/kingston-memory-hx421c14fbk28

Get 16GB if you can afford it.

If you already have that i5-4690k, go with a Gigabyte Z97 board, and DDR3 Memory--from Crucial, G.Skill or Patriot.

just a note

from looking at the specs from your motherboard in the link it already takes DDR3 Ram so if you do go with an I5 4690K you may be not have to get new ram because 4th and 5th gen intel CPUs like the 4690K only take DDR3 ram

you would only have to get new ram if you were going to get a current CPU like an I5 6500K
