Overclocked CPU: Performance degradation?

Hello all,

I've overclocked my Athlon X4-860k to 4.5 GHz, using +.1200V. Max I've seen VCore reach is 1.404v on this CPU.

When I first achieved this, I've had like 7000 scores for few days using a bench mark software, such as PerformanceTest or CPU-Z.

Few months later, I started getting like 6500 on PerformanceTest and lower score on CPU-Z.

Last few days, I been getting like 6200 on PerformanceTest and even lower on CPU-Z.

Anyone know what is going on? I'm not sure why the CPU performance is going down as time passes.

The motherboard I am using is: F2A55M-DS2. Using a 500W Thermal Lake PSU.

So all I need to make sure is I have a good PSU? I'm currently using Bronze rating ThermalTake 500W PSU. Using PSU not good quality and overclocking, may make CPU prone to degradation?

How would I clean cpu lol. You mean like re-apply thermal paste and stuff? I do it like once every 2 years. Last time it was done was like few months ago though.

And yes, I keep Windows optimized on the software side. Some of the companies you've mentioned are my competitor actually, as I work for a software optimization company as well.
