Hello! :)

Unless someone stops me, I'm squeezing the trigger on this $1,200 build I'll be using primarily for video editing. 4K isn't important to me (yet). I just want to get the ball rolling, so 1080p is fine for now. I know my first upgrades will be additional storage and RAM. For editing software, Davinci Resolve is free, so I plan to use it for now. (I just can't bring myself to do a subscription model at the moment.) I don't really have time for games anymore, but I do have a Steam library full of them.

So... What would you do differently?

If you can, you can do waht I do. Use a SSD for your main drive, and then use a 1Tb or 2TB for storage. I have a 500GB SSD as boot drive and I try to keep 300gb free. Then I dump everything on my 1TB. When I render, I render to my SSD and then transfer to my hard drive. Can transfer a 3GB file in about 2mins...sometimes lower.

I'm sure Black Friday will have some sales when you can snag up a SSD
Well you can find a cheap Windwos 10 OEM key online. Just use google and remember to buy from a trusted source. Since you are doing video editing, is 250GB really enough? Windows 10 will take about 20GB. I feel like the CPU cooler is OVERKILL. If you are not until extreme overclocking, I would recommend just getting a Hyper 212 EVO. If you want the "cool looks" then go for it. But just wanna try to save you some cash.

You're absolutely right about the storage. I'll pop a 1TB or 2TB soon after I get up and running. This is my "starter kit," so to speak. I think I picked the cooler (and the case) because I read it was quiet... Is that cooler you recommended very loud? Thanks for the feedback!

Not at all. I've had mine for 3 months now, and still can't hear it. Plus I have 3 case fans (2 are Noctua) and I don't hear a thing. I use Adobe Premiere to render YT 1080p videos, and it still does not get loud at all. And it's overclocked to 4.4GHz. But I have a i5-6600k

Good to know! I'll swap it out then...

Whoops! I accidentally picked your last response as the best answer... Can you tell I'm a noob? :)

I just meant to reply: I think what you're doing sounds fantastic, and that will be precisely what I do when I add some more storage.
