I have an
i5 6400
gtx 1060 6gb
8gb ram
my GPU is at 70% when playing (ultra,1080p) but my CPU is at 100%,
what should i change ti get better performance.
also if i was to upgrade should i get a 6700? or a 6600k with Mobo and cooler?

Solution
BF1 multiplayer is highly cpu dependant and will take advantage of a hex core or octa core processor if you can swing it. The new Ryzen lineup looks extremely promising for BF1 multiplayer at its price point.

upgrading to a 6600k will not help. You will still get 100% usage. I have a 6500 myself and experience the same usage as you do. Upgrading to the 6700, well, I can't say for sure, but the game might take advantage of Hyper Threading and therefore perform better.

I too have the issue of CPU usage at 100%. I have yet to hear a definitive answer. Some speculate you need i7 and others say 16gb RAM. Really, I'm hoping it is just new game bullshit. I'd suggest waiting another month or so cuz you are not alone and lots of people are talking about this. Wait for a real proven solution.

sorry should have ben more clear, i wanted to ask is it cheaper to get a 6700 or 6600k with a cooler and mobo

Depends on your needs.
A Solid Z170 Board is usually around 40-50$ more expensive than a good H170, a cooler are anouther 30$
The 6700 is usually 100$ over the 6600k.

Of course if you want some special Features and want to go for oc records costs can and will rise.

I'm still on the fence about i5 or i7 for BF1. I am hearing issues with 6600k running at 100% as well and less of this with those with i7. Should u buy a i5 or i7, I still think waiting for problem to be better identified should come first. Then make decision once issue is defined. Having a new i5-6400 I'd expect no issues in other games but BF1 is a headscratcher.

I'm gonna being buying a i7 + 16gb RAM so I know there is no system limitations but it will come with extra cost all in the name of BF1.
