Hi, so I'm about to buy a gtx 1070, to upgrade from my 970 for 1440p gaming..

I had no worries about bottlenecks as my cpu is pretty damn powerful (running at 4.4ghz stable, 40-60 degree max)
But my friends been having bottlenecking problems with a 980ti and an a 4670k

Anyone ever have issues with this combination?

The only game I can think of where a 4690k(oe even a 4670k) would struggle with a high end card is BF1 and that's due to poor optimization(have heard dice is looking into a fix). The game will still be very playable and at 1440p it doubt it will be be bad or even noticeable for the most part.

Its not that the 4670k is a problem but for high FPS an i7 can really help. Here is just one example, if you look at 1080p medium setting where the GPU is not the limiting factor going from an i5 to an i7 results in an average fps 25% higher. For 60Hz/60fps gaming the difference doesn't matter as both are over 60 but once you start aiming for over 100fps many modern AAA games do benefit from an i7
