I am looking for a budget pc build and found these two GPU's and the games I will be playing will be GTA V, Battlefield 1, WoT and other less GPU intensive games. Is it worth it to spend the extra money for the 1060?
From what I have read, the RX 480 and GTX 1060 are very similar in performance. In new titles using DX12 such as BF1 the 480 beats the 1060. In all other areas I think the GTX 1060 slightly outperforms the 480. Nvidia cards also come with a feature called shadowplay which allows you to record clips from your games as its constantly recording but only saving when you press highlight. AMD uses a similar program called Plays.tv which does the same thing but from what I've heard isn't quite as good as shadowplay. If you are buying a 1060 make sure you get the 6gb version not the 3gb. The other advantage of the 480 is that it has 8gb of vram.
I personally have the 480 and have zero complaints about it, every game I have tried to run works great at nearly the highest settings around 60 fps.
I don't think you can go wrong with either card, just don't buy the reference versions of the card because they run hotter. Goodluck with your build and decision!
