Had my MSI GTX 1080 gaming x less than 2 days, and just got a call from the mrs who was simply doing document stuff on the pc, the card just went bang and sparks all over the place.

So i come home, first thing i do is whack my old 780 in there to check for motherboard faliure etc, PC boots up fine.

The card has not been overclocked apart from factory, not like this beast even needs overclocking anyway and have not even had the time in 2 days of ownership with work. Popped the 1080 back in, and by lord its still working!!!!!

It's a Friday and was so looking forward to a weekend of gaming on my new beast, so I really don't know what to do, sensible side of me says don't use it, return it etc, but my other half wants to game, and game bad with it!!!!

Just ran some benchmarks after reinstall of drivers and everything is looking as normal.

Really don't know what to do, since I heard of EVGA having these issues but not MSI with that twin FROZR.

For peoples interest my power supply is a Thermaltake 1275w XT GOLD, for comparision in this same build I have had 2 x 280x running in crosffire and after 2 x 780 running in SLI, so it certainly isn't a power issue or PSU issue.

If your Mrs. is sure that it was the card that went bang, and was the source of the sparks, I would return it and game on the 780. The failure could be anything if it failed that violently. It could happen again, and possibly take out some other component in your rig. RMA the card, I can not advise you to use it at all.
