Guide me you fellow good people ,i have searched far and wide ,dug deep and found lava but not a conclusive answer to this question

I plan to use either of the cards for 2-3 years and will grind the shit out of them that they turn into powder and then use glue to make a paste from that powder
re-mold the card into the original shape and grind the shit out of it even more to squeeze every bit of the juice in it

But which one GTX 1060 6 GB or Radeon Rx 480 4GB ,i am getting both of them at the same price at my locality
But the thing is i have read everywhere and there is no definitive answer, some say rx 480 4GB will do better with DX12 & Vulkan but some say 1060 6GB has more raw power

But as one said DX12 and Vulkan is the future and the future is now ,developers are already releasing games with both DX12 & Vulkan but after looking at the Nvidia site it says 1060 6GB has a DX12 & Vulkan API

So my dilemma lies within the fact that i plan to use the card for 2 or 3 years max or maybe just 2 years
But as they say there is a 2GB ram difference between 1060 (6GB) and Rx 480 (4GB)

So that leaves us with one thing ,which should i choose and fellow other people who are also confused as me should go for ,since most games from now on will have DX12 & Vulkan ,but then 1060 also supports DX12 and Vulkan
I would like to get the best performance in games from either card for at least two years

Please guide me into the realm of happy gaming ,i will forever be grateful

Its hard to say at the moment, as you said the RX480 does outperform in DX12 and Vulkan but if decent drivers are released in the future for the 1060 to effectively support DX12 and Vulkan then that would be the one to go for. Personally i would say the RX480 but the two cards are so close in performance it really comes down to personal preference. Both cards will generally get you a solid 60fps at 1080p in both older and newer games.

I'd go with the 1060. It's faster in the majority of current games. In the games where the 480 pulls ahead, it isn't winning by all that much. If you're banking on DX 12, you're gambling on being able to get more future performance out of a card. I'd rather bank on performance today.

Why does it have to be so hard to choose ,either way your configurations seems fine to last a while ,i'll be getting a i5 6400 or i5 6500 depending on the sale this keeping week and after much benchmark videos of newer games like COD ,Battlefield ,Doom and considering Watch Dogs 2 which will also be DX12 i'm thinking of leaning towards rx480 since most AAA games are giving an option of both DX 11 & 12 and indie games are not graphic intensive

And as we know from history ,ubisoft has a history of fishy ports though im not the one to complain ,i just want my games to do well since more and more games are becoming DX12 compatible

I just spent a while watching benchmark videos like i have to give an exam on them and have decided to go for Rx 480 4GB

Since i'll be playing most AAA games and have watched Rx 480 and 1060 in such games as Quantum Break ,COD ,Battlefield 1 ,Doom ,the numbers just seem a bit high ,5 or 6 fps higher
And since most AAA comes coming in the future are offering both DX 11&12 support ,i think the rx 480 would be better in terms of being able to squeeze that extra 5 or 10 fps even though not noticeable since both cards perform well above 60fps

But im thinking the long run ,Rx 480 seems better in long run for DX12 which as i said most AAA games are offering now and whereas indie games are not that graphic intensive
and waiting for nvidia to release better drivers to support DX12 would be a gamble when at current Rx outperforms at that level

And since even Watch Dogs 2 will have the option for DX12 ,i think Rx480 will be better since we all know past history of Ubisoft with their fancy ports ,though im not the one to complain

But now my concern which leaves me to question is 4GB RAM of Rx 480 sufficient for 2 years or 6GB RAM of 1060 will be superior or im fine with the Rx 480 4GB ?

I am leaning towards Rx 480 because of reasons that many AAA games at present are offering DX12 support and many of the future releases planned also have DX12 support ,so in that sense Rx480 might be able to perform better

and i just watched a few benchmarking videos of both Rx480 & 1060 and some cases including DX12 it just performs better
and since most AAA games coming in the next year will be having DX12 support as well as DX11 of course
I think 480 should perform a little better and in two years time i'll be buying a new graphics card ,a one in the higher end spectrum ,which ever is at top then

Though i would love to hear your input on this and if im wrong please correct me

And i sincerely apologize for the language ,i was not aware and i take heed and will keep this in mind ,again sincere apologies

My main focus is games coming out next year ,most AAA titles coming next year will be having DX12 support ,so my concern is Rx 480 might perform better there ,although yes they will also have an option for DX11

And i watched a few benchmarking videos of Quantum Break ,COD ,Battlefield 1 and Doom ,in those areas the Rx 480 gives a little extra push of 5 - 6 fps though not noticeable since both cards can perform well over 60fps

But im looking at the longer picture when AAA games in the next year will have the option of both DX 11&12 ,i think then the 480 might perform just a little bit better and also otherwise indie games are not much graphic intensive so either card will perform well i presume

And since Watch Dogs 2 is also coming up which has DX12 support ,i think the 480 might maybe do some magic there since we all know from past Ubisoft history about their fancy ports but im not the one to complain

And since more and more games will give the option of DX12 (with DX11 of course) would not 480 perform just a tad bit better and in two years time i'll purchase a card on the high end spectrum which ever it is then

If im wrong please correct me as it would only help me

If you're worried about VRAM being an issue but still want the 480 could you not stretch for the 8GB RX480?
