Hey guys, recently bought a new PSU for my computer, was an upgraded PSU so it wasnt quite a plug and play for me. Installed the new PSU started plugging stuff in where my old PSU had stuff plugged in. Old PSU was had 4 plugs. 1, 14pin into the mobo, 1, 4 pin into the CPU, and 2 6pins into the GPU. That is all. The SSD, optical drive and fans, from what i gather, were plumbed into the mobo through what i can assume were SATA connector jumpers from device to device and ultimately into the mobo.

Hooked it all up, didnt work at all.

My new PSU has SATA connectors that came pre-connected inside the PSU. Now my question is, do i need to use these SATA connectors on the new PSU, or can i just leave them empty and use the pre-existing SATA jumpers that go to the mobo?

Second question, my new PSU has a 24pin mobo connector, and my lenovo mobo has a 14pin connector. Will I be needing a 24pin to 14pin adapter?

Any information for this computer newbie would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

in that picture do sata connectors to power hdd's and dvd player come from the psu so you will need to use the sata connectors from the new psu as well.
[strike]Can't make out how the power connector on the motherboard looks, the "14 pin" as you called it.looked at[/strike] the review [strike]where you got that picture from and clicked there shows alot bigger picture. You're sure you linked the right picture? Since not what you describe it to be in your pc[/strike] ...
If really a 14 pin power connector do you imo need a new motherboard as well.[strike]Maybe you can take a picture of it and share it via[/strike] "Imgur" (use "new post") ->.img link, copy and paste that one here.

Just read the comments in that review and they talk about a 14pin power connector as well which imo means that you need a new motherboard.
