Hi, I wanna buy a HDD to store my virtual machines on (.vmdk's), so there will be 3 VMs working on this HDD at minimum at once, I found WD5000AAKX which is 500gb (enough) but 16mb cache, and WD10EZEX which is 1TB and 64mb cache....The 500gb one is enough in storage, but if the 64mb cache makes a difference especially when running 3 Operating Systems at least at once, I will try to get the 1TB 64mb cache one.

And can you provide me with real reliable benchmarks of those 2 HDDs ?

Thanks for replying! I already have 2 500GB HDDs and an 80gb HDD, so VMs are well seperated for good IOPS performance, I just need to replace the 80gb (its so loudy), and a 1 500GB (as it is usb 3.0 external) with 1 500gb/1TB internal one, but that depends on the 16/64 mb cache performance difference (especially for my case).

Unfortunately, I can't afford a 500gb/1TB SSD, as they are much much more expensive here than in the USA.

*Note: my boot system (main system) will be alone, and my VMs will be on another HDD/HDDs alone.
