Overclocking expectations for FX 6300

My parts:

PSU- EVGA 650GQ
Motherboard- M5A97 LE R2.0
CPU- FX 6300 Black Edition running at stock

If I bought a Hyper 212 Evo, around what frequency should I expect my 6300 to be able to run at, considering stock is 3.5 GHz and 4.1 GHz Turbo?

I wouldn't push the voltage much past stock unless you want to buy a heatsink for the VRM's on that mobo or at least point a fan at them. So with stock voltage maybe 4.2-4.4ghz depending on how lucky you got with that chip. With a voltage increase to say 1.4v roughly you should be able to hit 4.5ghz or so, I wouldn't push the voltage much higher than that on that board even with proper vrm cooling.

Thanks for the answers guys. I am new to OCing so I have some more questions. So if I understood correctly, I'd have to buy a better CPU cooler AND a VRM cooler if I wanna go high and turn the voltage to 1.4v, or I can keep the voltage as is and get it to 4.2-4.4 GHz, right?

How will I be able to tell if there is CPU throttling occurring during a stress test or gaming session?

Dunlop, when you say I should point a fan at them do you mean the case fans?

Finally, in the BIOS should I change the base clock or the multiplier?
