A friend of mine wants to build a PC, mostly for programming purposes, with the option to improve the setup in the future. His budget is around 600euros and he's already exceeding it since he'll be getting a monitor as well.

Components:
CPU: intel i5 6600K
MOBO: asus Z170-P D3 RETAIL
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600MHZ
GPU: buy in the future / or an old hd7770
PSU: BE QUIET! PURE POWER 9 600W (silver)

Is this build decent enough?

Solution
I would build differently for his purpose.

I3-6100 will be cheaper and have faster stock single thread performance.
A cheaper H110 motherboard will do the job.
If there is future prospect of serious gaming, and a i5-6600K upgrade, then I might pay a bit more for a Z170 based motherboard up front.

I would expect to use integrated graphics.
For that, a 2 stick kit of DDR4-2400 speed ram will be better.
The integrated graphics is similar in capability to the mentioned 7770.

The biggest recommendation for performance is to use a ssd.
I will never build again without one.
It makes everything you do so much quicker.
Files open instantly, compiles go faster.
240gb Samsung evo at least.
Defer on any hard drive until space is actually needed...

Yes It Should Be Enough

1st Suggestion : Beat The Ddr4 . The Lga 1151 And Skylake Cpus 6th Generations Can Works better With ddr4 Rams. In 2133

Mhz Speed

2nd Suggestion : If He Can Afford A Ssd So Plz Tell him Buy It. It Makes A Sensable Difference In Performing Process And Speed...

3rd Suggestion : U Can Buy A i5 6500 And Dont Waste Money Because I Dont Think So A Overclockable Cpu Got A Huge

Differences In His Specific Jobs And i5 6500 Works Better And He Just Save Money If He Cant Afford Ssd Its A good Way

Buy a i5 6500 And A Ssd

Best Regards Khd

Thanks for the advice. He was planning to get an SSD but sadly that would raise the overall cost so let's leave that for a future upgrade. As for the OCable CPU, it aims to provide a more future-proof build down the road.

Other than that the build looks fine enough. You aware you need to buy a CPU Cooler with the i5-6600k? Because the K version Skylake CPU's don't ship with Intel heatsinks.

Otherwise, you could aim for an i7-6700 along with a H110/B150 motherboard. Don't need to buy a CPU Cooler for that one and it'll be more future proof than an i5-6600k.

It is easy to add a hard drive later.

A 600w psu is more than you need, It will run even a Titan X.
Still it is a good quality psu and it will use only the wattage demanded of it.

One other thing, see if you can't manage two monitors.
Two are very helpful for such desktop type work.

The i7-6700 is a little too expensive (at least here) so the i5-6600K with an extra cooler will be fine. Thank you.
