I broke my laptop (by spilling milk) and am planning on building a new desktop with a barebone kit (Aegis X-001 Bus). I was able to extract 4x8GB of DDR3L SODIMM RAM and my HDD from my laptop -- I don't think they were damaged by the spill, and I am hoping that I can use them. With that said, I have a couple questions.

______________________________________________________________________
1. What external components are needed for the barebones kit to work? (RAM, HDD, OS, CPU, correct?)

I already have a mouse, keyboard, and monitor (+ HDMI/power cable). I can buy a GPU/SSD later.

2. Is my leftover RAM (DDR3L SODIMM 4x8GB) compatible?

The specifications on Amazon say DDR4 SODIMM is required for the Aegis X kit, but I think I've read somewhere that DDR3L SODIMM is compatible with the Z170 mother board and Skylake i7-6700K CPU (which I intend to buy).. so I'm not sure which one is correct.

3. Is my leftover HDD (Toshiba MQ01ABD100) compatible?

Thanks. Let me know if anything is unclear, and I will clarify.

Your LT memory will not work and the hard drive should but with a fresh install of windows.
You can buy better stuff for less money including 16GB of memory. You could even change things and get a full size ATX board and case if you wish.
