Good morning. I hope this is the correct forum. I have a mostly out of the box Acer Aspire TC-605 that I purchased several years ago. I added an ATI AMD Radeon 5700 1Gb graphics card and I'm at 16Gb of ram. This computer also has a Core i3 4160. I mainly play Civ V and will probably be getting Civ VI, which from what I understand, is more CPU intense than GPU. However, my son is getting to the age where is likes playing games like Battlefront and other shooters. So, I was going to upgrade to a Core i5-6600K CPU and AMD R9 380 GPU as well as installing a 250 Gb or so SSD as a boot drive. So I've two questions...would these upgrades be worthy and make my system a little more snappy while keeping my son happy with his game performance, and 2) would I be better off looking for a comparable system for sale over the holiday season? Any thoughts? I'm currently running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

Thanks

Hi doco,
I3 4160 is a 1150 socket CPU.
I5 6600K is an 1151 socket CPU.
So it won't fit, more it's a K version which is unlocked, that means you can overcklock (idk if you are interessed in those kind of things) another thing is if you wan't to buy an I5 6600K you will need to buy new motherboard and DDR4 Memory.
For the R9 380 GPU you will need to be sure that you have good enough power supply.
For the SSD there will be no problem.
Hope it helps.
If you want a new rig, give us your budget and we will try to help.

Thanks for the info. Is there a CPU you would suggest, biggest bang for the buck.
