depends which security software you use some have much better motion detection options than others

i tried an awful lot of them when i had a neighbour from hell

totally recommend blue iris software

it has numerous options to stop false triggers of motion detection

though as said on outside cameras spiders do trigger them dont know if its the infra red light or just spiders being spiders and building webs on anything

if its for outside use the other thing i learned was dont buy a cheap camera they are totally awful in dark conditions

Multiple options.
A simple webcam
WiFi camera
Dedicated DVR + camera

Inside or outside?
How many cameras?

However...notifications.
Motion detection is notoriously hard to get right, and not trigger too much.
If this is inside, and a window is in view...every car that goes down the street at night will trigger.
If this is outside, spiders. Don't laugh.

Well it's for inside usage and I'm the only one there no pets so setup should be pretty easy. Now outside would be nice to get my car but I was thinking of just setting it just cropping it to where I park then just let it go if it gets junk just delete it.
