Hello, after an unfortunate ssd failure (just a standard sata 3 ssd) I decided to purchase a m.2 ssd (a western digital wd green 240gb) that would fit into my m.2 port on my mother board (its a asus z97-a) and after enabling m.2 support in the bios, the sdd wasn't recognized by the bios or in windows. Is the ssd doa or is it just incompatible with my mobo? Thanks for any help

Check the BIOS update logs to see if there are any notes about expanded SSD compatibility. Some NVME m.2 SSD's require a BIOS update to gain compatibility with motherboards.

If you gain nothing from the aforementioned suggestion, run the command prompt as admin, type 'dskprt' and press enter, then type list disk and see if the drive appears there.

Since the m.2 port on the motherboard was never used, it could also be the motherboard is the source of the issue, test the ssd on another system.
