Hi I recently got this motherboard and am trying to find a memory that will work with.

ASRock Z97 Extreme6 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

What is more important lower CAS Latency or Higher Frequency?

Looking to buy on newegg.com..?

Official support for your MB is DDR3 1600MHz, The board will support higher frequencies however, this is considered an OC and will depend on the strength of your IMC (Integrated Memory Controller).
The RAM you choose may have XMP profile/s which should work if your processor supports that and Bios intervention may be required to adjust your Primary Timings and Voltage.
Lower Latency RAM is generally faster and there is not much to gain performance wise when gaming with higher frequency RAM.
It is best to check with the MB manufacturers QVL for Kits that have been tested in conjunction with the MB.
Go here and choose your MB QVL: http://www.asrock.com/support/SupportList.us.asp?cat=Memory
Kingston, Corsair and GSKill are good quality. Choose a kit the size and frequency you desire.
You would not need more than a 16GB kit for gaming and general purpose use.
Choose a kit then link the p/n here for scrutiny and comment.

If thinking 16GB, get it now, no guarantees when trying to mix DRAM (even of the same exact model). Performance wise it's a combination of CAS and data rate, i.e. 2133/10 is a higher data rate, but say 1866/8 will slightly outperform it in everyday use. The higher data rates are better with multi-tasking, apps that are DRAM hungry, using large data sets, etc. from having the higher bandwidth and ability to do more each cycle

Hmm so If I do A LOT of Multi tasking and sometimes play multi-windowed games, is a cas 9 better for me or a cas 10 with higher speed?

Like 30 chrome windows open. Etc.

Ok nice :) Thank you :)

The mushkin is faster (on paper) & cheaper.
I can't see any reason not to go with it.

By all accounts go with the corsair lp 1866 if you'd prefer to buy the corsair brand

Ram clearance with either if those 2 placed in the first & third slot will not be an issue with the 212.

It only encroaches on the slot nearest the cpu on a full atx size board.

Which is why it makes sense to buy a 2x8gb ram set now.

Yep Thank you all for the suggestions :)

I went up going with the Corsair corsair lp 1866 2x8GB set :) So maybe will try to get one of the H5 or H7 coolers later.
