Pc freeze/crash only when playing games but never when stress testing.

I built a pc a while ago and i had no problems what so ever but then all of a sudden when i'm playing a game whether it's a really low performance game or a high end game it freezes my pc and i have to manually restart it.

I have stress tested the cpu with prime95, hot cpu tester pro, heavyload etc.

Even though it is apparently pointless I used HWmonitor to check my psu stats were within reason.

I have monitored my cpu and gpu temps constantly and they are fine.

I did a memtest and it showed 0 errors.

My pc has been cleaned.

I reinstalled all the hardware and did a clean install of windows 8.1 and since upgraded to windows 10.

I replaced the HDD a while ago and the problem has persisted.

The motherboard doesn't need to be updated because it was working fine out of the box a long time before this problem existed.

As far as i can see every component is working and i completely reinstalled all the software so there should be nothing wrong so i'm at a loss for what to do.

Pc specs:

Cpu: AMD FX 9590

CPU fan: R1 Ultimate

Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0

RAM: 1 stick of kingston 8GB 1600MHz DDR3L Non-ECC CL11 DIMM 1.35V Memory

GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB

the HDD is a decent brand and new

PSU: Corsair cx750w (this might be the problem but it's only 1 year old or so)

I also tried reinstalling all the microsoft redistributables and it seemed to fix the problem but it i believe i was just lucky for a while.

One more piece of information that may be relevant is that the event viewer shows a warning event id:19 which seems to pop up only when i play games and not when i'm stress testing the CPU with prime95 etc.

Help will be much appreciated thank you.

Solution
Oh I agree but the 850 should do it, when these CPUs were released AMD was suggesting 1,000 PSU, but from what I've seen a good 850 will do fine

If i get a new PSU will a EVGA Supernova P2 850w Platinum Fully Modular definitely do the job for a good few years?

Though i would like to try other solutions before buying something over a hundred pounds first.

I've ordered a new PSU and i'm just going to hope it fixes the problem and that my current psu has deteriorated over time.

It is a 750w and when i add up all my components/usb plug ins like speakers etc I'm at a 730w load so maybe my PSU deteriorated by 20w at full load who knows...='(

I just hope it's not my very expensive CPU because i have no idea how to underclock it.

I underclocked the PSU and it fixed the problem and when I finally got to installing the new PSU I reset the BIOS settings to default and its all in working order now.

Thanks for your help.
