If my PC and other needed devises have a max power consumption of 1000 watts then what UPS should i use to be able to run them all without overloading the UPS

My budget is around 100 dollars and i would like some tips on how UPS work.

The only way to know what UPS you need is to measure the actual MAXIMUM load and then use the tools at www.apc.com (or other UPS manufacturer) to side their product. They (the manufacturer) know the limits of the products and will provide hold-over times for different loads.

Look at the runtime charts -- http://www.apc.com/products/runtime_for_extendedruntime.cfm?upsfamily=27 The Back-UPS PRO 1500 shows a MAXIMUM limit of 865W. So you need to find the ACTUAL maximum load you will put on a UPS.

1500W -- maybe. Some UPS units will show an overload at more than 50%.

Is that 1000W a measured value or an estimated value? If it is an estimate, then you really should get a power meter and measure it. The kill-a-watt meter is an inexpensive way to get an accurate reading.

1500W UPS cost hundreds of dollars, are you sure that this would overload it?
