I had an older build that I decided to upgrade so I could play games like BF1.

My old build had:

AMD FX 8320
GTX 1060
8GB RAM
EVGA 600B PSU
2 HDD's

I upgraded it with:

i5 6600k
ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming Aurora
16GB Ballistix RAM

There is no display, but the PC turns on. All fans run and lights come on but there is no display. I tried different inputs on monitor and I tried using the HDMI in the MOBO as well.

The LED's and lights on MOBO don't shut off when PC is off though. On the manual, it says if the power light is on, then the mobo is on.

I also checked for any beeps when it turns on but I can't seem to make out any. There are what sounds like 2 beeps when I turn it off however.

The user-friendly LED configuration on the z170 board indicated that it was a DRAM/DRAM refresh failure.

I simply took the ROM battery out for 10 seconds, put it back in, and then turned on the pc. The pc power cycled once and then booted up fine.

Also, one of the RAM slots is defective and I'm not sure how it happened. Make sure you test BOTH sticks of RAM in different slots to rule out bad RAM.

Hope this helps!
