So I decided to unplug everything from my computer and plug it back in. When I tried to boot it up I got a black screen that said I need a boot device. I checked that everything is plugged in but why isn't my SATA being detected in my hard drive. I cannot boot my computer. I go to bios and it only shows up in CD boot. Even though my SATA is set as #1 boot priority it still fails to start up properly.

I'd advise you to try resolving the issue by resetting BIOS and getting the settings back to factory defaults. Afterwards, try to re-configure the boot priority and see if it will help. Another thing that could help is checking your mobo manufacturer's official website for any BIOS updates. Make sure you got the latest one installed from there. You should also refer to the mobo's manual for the step-by-steps on how to update the BIOS version. I'd also suggest you check your connections inside the PC again and make sure everything is properly connected. The HDD needs to be plugged to the mobo via the SATA cable and to the PSU via the Molex cable.

Hope it works. Keep me posted...
