Did I ruin my CPU?

Hey, so I just finished my new build, and being the idiot I am I decided to boot the pc with no heatsink or cooler on the cpu. The pc booted right to the bios and I started monitoring the temps. The cpu temp continued to rise, and I turned the system off once it hit 76°c. Did I frie the cpu? I'm too afraid to turn the pc back on until my cpu cooler is installed.

Your CPU should be fine - you neither worked it hard nor left it running long enough to overheat and potentially ruin it. And I would recommend not using the computer until the cooler is installed.
