Hey there, Judeo_23.
A used drive with an OS on it? The OS is kind of useless, since it was installed on a different computer, which means that it was configured for different hardware and motherboard. It's rarely possible to boot to Windows by switching drives from different computers. I guess the best case scenario for you would be to make a clean installation of Windows. If you have the product key for the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) version of Windows your laptop came with, you should be able to make a bootable flash drive with the same version of Windows and install it on that HDD. Here's how to do that: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15088/windows-create-installation-media.
Hope that helps. Please let me know...
