So it's about time for me to upgrade my build, I've had it for over 5 years and decided to do something about it. I'd like some help in terms of upgrading my computer and which parts I should upgrade first to last.

Budget: £500-£750

Current build:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2
Processor: AMD FX-4100 Clocked to 4.3Ghz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6770
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 500GB
RAM: Unknown 2x4GB
SSD: None

Honestly, any suggestions and help would be MUCH appreciated and thank you in advance for the help.

Solution
If you plan on those kind of games, a GPU upgrade to something like GTX 1060 would be awesome.
If you also want to play modern games like BF1, you'd need to change the platform as well.

that would be excellent gaming system:
I added SSD for convenience.
You still have the room within your budget for new PSU and/or case (if needed). or you can add CPU cooler like 212 EVO - not required, just makes system a bit quieter and cooler

CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor (£188.49 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: Asus B150M PRO GAMING Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£80.23 @ BT Shop)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory (£74.99 @ Novatech)
Storage: Crucial...

I use it mostly for gaming (Skyrim, League of Legends) and media eg. Youtube

Thank you very much for that, I'm guessing I should get the 1060 first?
And after that, as I get the money should I buy CPU motherboard and RAM?
Also, what do you think about the RX 480 and 6600K combo instead?
If you could tell me which items to get first and, if I need to get any of them at once in a group purchase etc.
Anyway, your help has been great!

RX 480 is on average slower than GTX 1060 at the same or higher price. especially for the decent non reference models.
RX 480 is also hotter. But if you can get a good one at low price - nothing wrong with that.
The 6600K will add significant amount of money to the price as you are going to need Z170 MB and a good cooler.
here how it will look like:
CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£209.94 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler (£51.83 @ CCL Computers)
Motherboard: Asus Z170 PRO GAMING/AURA ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£133.29 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory (£74.99 @ Novatech)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory (£79.99 @ Aria PC)
Storage: Crucial MX300 275GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive (£69.70 @ CCL Computers)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB WINDFORCE OC 6G Video Card (£244.86 @ CCL Computers)
Total: £864.60

and here it becomes important what PSU you have.

Your first suggestion seems definitely a lot better. I only realised how bad I am at this.
If you're curious I have a SL-8500BTX 500W PSU.
I'll try get the money and time to buy the first build you suggested and I'll let you know how it worked out, you've been very helpful. Thank you!

I have found only one review of this PSU. but that is no concern if it worked properly till now.
the GTX 1060 is using just a bit more power than your 6770 and FX (especially overclocked) is more power hungry than i5.
the system with i5+GTX 1060 is about 200 watt under gaming load - So no problem here.

BTW, there is a mistake in second list. there are two ram kits when you really need only one. so it looks a bit better :

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£209.94 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler (£51.83 @ CCL Computers)
Motherboard: Asus Z170 PRO GAMING/AURA ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£133.29 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory (£79.99 @ Aria PC)
Storage: Crucial MX300 275GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive (£69.70 @ CCL Computers)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB WINDFORCE OC 6G Video Card (£244.86 @ CCL Computers)
Total: £789.61

I'm glad the power is alright, I want to buy this computer in parts, is it okay to get the 1060 and the rest after? (not minding the bottleneck in the meantime)
About the SSD, I've had a look at it and I have a question. Is it the best option for this motherboard? It seems like it plugs in the same a GPU would (as in a slot). I'm just confused on how that specific SSD works.
Also, does it matter if the motherboard you suggested is smaller than mine or does mounting motherboards work the same for all sizes.

Yes, it's totally alright to get the GPU first (it's actually recommended) and than get the MB+CPU+RAM and then SSD.
This SSD is one of the fastest for the sane price. it is plugs directly to MB (kinda laying on it in parallel) so no more cable mess. other than connector, it works exactly as regular 2.5/3.5 HDD/SSD.
Micro ATX has just less screws, the mounting points are exactly the same.

That cleared everything up, I'll make sure to ask you if I need anything else.
I'll also inform you on how the build goes as I get the parts.
Thanks a lot!
