Can my Asrock FM2A58M-DG3+ handle AMD 880k?

I have AMD 740 in the socket right now i want to upgrade to 880k (Which is the most powerful CPU on the FM2 platform) but i'm not sure if my cheap mobo with old chipset can handle it. I don't want to spend more money on the new mobo. I've looked up on the asrock website and it says that my mobo is supporting the CPU however i'm little bit worried. I will run at stock speeds (Overclocking it's not possible on this cheap mobo to be honest)

Solution
This should be just fine, the motherboard doesn't influence the performance of the CPU unless it's a VERY old motherboard, overclocking should be fine and all in all you should't be too worried about anything, besides, if worst comes to worst you can buy a new cheap FM2+ motherboard (they aren't too expensive so it won't break your bank).

I'm really surprised. I heard a lot of things about overclocking on cheap mobos (Most of it was just like "you shouldn't overclock on cheap mobos"). So only thing i should worry about is if the PSU has enough power to run the system and can handle the overclock??

You should also be using a downdraft CPU cooler that will blow air over the VRM MOSFETs.
Will the stock cooler packed with 880k do just fine? (It's similar to the wraith one). Wait can the stock cooler fit on my mobo without blocking one of the ram slots? because i use 2 4gb modules in both slots

It is a downdraft cooler so it should do the job. I don't think you'll have any interference with the DIMMs if the motherboard has been properly designed.

Since im too lazy to create a new topic one last question. Is it worth upgrading from AMD 740 to AMD 880k? Performance wise? How much faster (in percentage) is 880k from 740?
