Hello Internets,

I've recently built a new PC but have been having trouble with, which I believe to be the source of the issue, my graphics card. After about a month of running the PC, I started to get strange issues where the PC would lock up and the display on my monitor would tear horribly:

Specs:

OS: Windows 10 Education 64-bit
CPU: Intel i5-6500
RAM: 8GB DDR4
GPU: Palit GTX 1070 JetStream
PSU: Corsair CX500M
Motherboard: ASRock H170 Pro4S

The PC runs great most of the time as expected: handles maximum graphical settings at high FPS. However every so often this screen tearing occurs and not always when in a game. I've haven't managed to find a pattern for when it occurs.

If there are any suggestions people have about the problem, I'd be very thankful. More information can be provided.

Cheers.

EDIT: I updated both video and audio drivers about 10 minutes prior to the above image being taken.

Solution
either PSU or GPU
Try cleaning the video cards edge connector which goes into pcie slot with 90 percent isopropyl alcohol first then
i would RMA the card right away if that doesnt work

I've not overclocked it, never needed to.

I reckon it is the PSU as bypassing the GPU and only using the motherboard's display ports doesn't have any effect. However, if any there are any other suggestions I'll look into them while I RMA my PSU.

The PSU was something I never looked into as much as I did to other components when building my PC. I'm returning it now and will definitely be looking at that guide when getting a replacement. Thanks!
