For a couple weeks my computer has been acting up. Sometimes my computer wont start up at all and sometimes it starts up perfectly. The times when it doesn't start up all of my fans still recoeve power but nothing shows up on the screen. After pressing the shutdown button and restarting it does the same thing. Except this time around when I press the power button again to turn it off it turns off instantly. I found that by removing the CPU and placing it back in it usually fixes my problem. However it's not long until I start up the computer and it wont boot up again. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

I'm using a Asrock z75 Pro 3 mobo, a i7 2600s , 2 4gb samsung ram sticks, and an evga gtx 970.

Solution

No. Your problem is voltage stability. The power supply you have now does a horrible job of making sure that 12V is actually 12V. Anything below 11.7V or above 12.3V will cause these sorts of issues. Continued use of the machine after this begins could result in damage to sensitive components like motherboards, video cards and hard drives.
