Hello, iskandar here.

I had a problem last month. While playing games like Batman Arkham Knight/Rise of Tomb Raider, my monitor will shut down after 1-2 hours of gaming. After that it got worse. Just getting to the starting menu of the game will make it shut down again.

PC was running fine with lights and spins and sound. Even the background music of the game still playing. Just the screen goes black.

I suspect it was my GTX 980ti GPU. I sent for RMA, got a new one and been playing games happily ever after.

Then today it happen again. I went to sleep while letting my Batman AK running on the pause menu. I woke up and the same disaster happened again.

I checked with FURMARK and done the 1080p test, it was okay. Next i did the 4k test, that black screen happen again.

After that i did AIDA64 test. First was CPU and everything except GPU for 5 minutes, all is good. Then GPU test only, it goes black screen in 3 minutes.

The temperature of my GPU just before it goes black screen was around 68-72 degree celcius.

Can anybody help me? Is it caused by my PSU? Or CPU? Or Mobo? I'm pretty sure it's not the gpu problem.

Oh yes my monitor is S2340L 1080p monitor. My PSU is GX 750W Bronze Cooler Master.

I'd bet the farm on the PSU given that chain of events! And if you wait long enough the hardcore PSU guys will make it here and really slam the Cooler Master, some guys swear they even pose a fire hazard!

I swear by high end PSUs now. Primarily Corsair and Seasonic. Even corsair gets a bit cheapy with their builder series. You'd be amazed at how many people are on here with...
You don't have any typical errors or codes, no BSOD or crash dumps. Often what happens is the GPU gets a bit starved for power, and crashes. The rest of the system is still OK, some PCs are able to recover from this after a moment or continue to play sound, but regardless, the crashing is usually caused by a lack of amps on the 12v rail to the GPU.

My money is on the PSU causing the problem. Your symptoms are very much in line with problems associated with an inadequate power supply.

The PSU isn't running as well as it claims to.

Thanks bro. But...it's quite a new psu. Only aged around 2 years. And changing PSU is a bit tedious and pricy. But i'll try.

Yeah, but cooler master is pretty much THE bottom of the barrel when it comes to PSUs.
I'm surprised you didn't see this issue from the first day. Did you upgrade your GPU at some point?

You don't need to spend too much. A Seasonic non modular PSU is pretty cheap.

:pt1cable:
I guess my psu knowledge is well too shallow! Okay i'll go buy a new psu.

But there seems like tier list for PSU. Which is good but with reasonable price for my 980ti and 4 HDD?
