Alright. SO I've got an Optiplex 755 (if you cant tell already) that I'm working on upgrading to the most a dell possibly could be. I know this is some proprietary stuff but I've got a pretty powerful computer going and the numbers are going up. So bear with me.

I ordered a core 2 quad to replace the stock core 2 duo, and it works perfectly with my current 6gb of RAM. I'm just wondering if it would be possible to remove two of my RAM sticks each being 4gb and 2gb (leaving me with 2gb) and replacing them with 2 4gb sticks (leaving me with a whopping 10gb of RAM) Would the processor be able to utilize all of it? Im going for performance in rendering and lowkey gaming.
I would really appreciate a link to a 8gb kit of 2 sticks.

Specs:
Core 2 QUAD 2.46MHz
4gb DDR2/DDR3 Mixed Ram (It only has 2 of each slot. 2 DDR3 and 2 DDR2, and im looking to upgrade to 8gb of ram.)
NvIDIA GT 630
Stock mobo (its the minitower model, idk what the motherboard specs should be.)

Solution
Should be 16 gb max source :more info here

You have to choose between 2 x 8 gb ddr2 OR ddr3 because you cannot mix them.

Personally I would go with ddr3 because the 8 gb sticks are less expensive than ddr2 8 gb (if they even exist)
Also they are faster
