Hi,
I'm currently gaming on a 1080p tv but we plan to redo our basement and don't know yet if we will go with a 1080p projector or 4k tv. I'm trying to build a new gaming computer but I am unsure of the parts. Here is what I'm thinking about for a build < 2000$ CAN:
Case Fractal Design Define R5
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/sjX2FT/fractal-design-case-fdcadefr5bk
Silent and no window since the action is on the screen and not the computer
core i7 6700k
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/tdmxFT/intel-cpu-bx80662i76700k
for gaming and HT useful for programming/compiling
Asus Z170-A
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/Q9Gj4D/asus-motherboard-z170a
Seems good price/quality ratio
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/hmtCmG/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rr212e20pkr2
Seems a popular choice
Corsair RMx 850W 80+ Gold
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/7Dx9TW/corsair-power-supply-cp9020093na
Overwattage but goal is to keep the fan silent at my system's required wattage
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/MYH48d/corsair-memory-cmk16gx4m2b3000c15
16 GB for future proofing and nothing under 2666mhz since bench seems to tell it's the min for good fps without dimnishing return.
Asus GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB Dual Video
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/jZJkcf/asus-geforce-gtx-1060-6gb-dual-video-card-dual-gtx1060-o6g
2 fans but didn't think the extra is worth it for strix unless I'm missing something. Only reason to go strix would be fan auto stop but not sure if it matters during gaming.
The plan is to use the 1060 for now and change it when/if going to 4K as unless I'm mistaken, no affordable single GPU can do 4K Ultra at 60fps in 90% of the games right now (including the 1080). As I usually frantically turn the camera around when I play, 60 fps is a mandatory requirement and I'd rather drop my settings than playing at 30 fps. Seems also using a 1070 and adding a 2nd one does not meet the 60 fps requirement.
1) Do you have any advice on this build
2) and on 4K vs 1080p projector ?
Thansk a lot!
