Should I overclock my new 4790k?

Hey all, so im a PC gamer here and i just got an i7-4790k. So I have a fairly new Kraken x61, when i was replacing my CPU i could not for the life of me find any thermal paste so i scrapped the fresh paste off of the new stock cooler that i just got and threw it on my Kraken just because some of the current paste on it had been taken off and obviously there was a need to put some new paste on there for the new CPU. I know this was a risky move but my CPU is sticking to a 24-32 degrees Celsius while idle at my desktop and i will be getting new paste tomorrow, i just really wanted to get my PC running and make sure the new CPU worked fine. So my question is, should i overclock my CPU and what should i overclock it to? It might help to mention i am not going to attempt the overclock until i clean off the current paste, and give it a fresh new start. My current specs are,

MOBO: MSI z97 PCMate

Ram: 12 gb 1600mhz

GPU: ASUS GTX 1070 ROG STRIX

CPU: I7-4790k (Obviously lol)

Cooler: NZXT Kraken x61 liquid cooling

Any opinion and tips are greatly appreciated! Ive never overclocked before so i dont know much about it, i only know that the risks can cause my CPU to break :(

Yes it's turbo boost is 4.4ghz on 1 or 2 cores. It will turbo automatically when needed as long as there is thermal headroom.

4.7ghz is realistic with minimum effort, but like I said, don't expect a large impact in performance.

DEFINITELY get some new thermal paste and re-install your x61 before overclocking, but once that's done-

You can overclock if you want to play around with it. Do you NEED to? No. Don't expect overclocking to make much difference.

Yeah i would 100% replace the paste before making a move like this. But yeah with turbo boost i believe it can go up to 4.4ghz per second. I have turbo boost enabled, do you know if i need to do anything else from here? Or will it boost up to 4.4 on its on that easily. And even if i were to overclock, what could the potential be?

You won't see much of a difference by overclocking it but yeah if you really wish to do it and as you got the unlocked version you can overclock it. Whenever you overclock just try to do it by small values first then raise it by some units just to be safe if anything goes wrong.
If you want some more FPS in games, you can try overclocking your GPU, in that case too raise it by some units and see if its stable.
