Should I buy another GTX 970 or upgrade to a 1070?

Hi there-
I already have a 970 and was thinking about purchasing another to SLI.
Saw a video comparison between 970 SLI and 1070, and it was beating it by a few frames 3 - 4 in every resolution!

Should I get another one or just save up for a 1070?
Thanks in advance!

Also are there any major problems with SLI configs?

Upgrade to a 1070, single card is always advisable over dual cards for stability and cooling.

If you want to know more about why SLI isn't perfect, look into common issues with SLI such as micro-stuttering and massive frame variance and frame time issues.

plenty. SLi like crossfire is a very buggy tech.

listen, the general rule of thumb is to always get 1 GPU over 2 in xfire/SLi. you'll have a lot less issues with 1 GPU in pretty much every situation.

The 1070 is the best upgrade. SLI is ok but some games doesn't support SLI. A single more powerful card is usally the way to go.

SLI is ok when you are already at the top end looking to add even more performance. Otherwise always go for a straight upgrade.

IMO anyway. Plus you'll get better dx12 support etc..

Not sure where you got your information. The 1070 is about 40% faster than the 970. And has a lot more RAM, 8GB vs 3.5GB.

at this point I wouldn't bother for SLI for a GTX 970, even though a lot of demanding games do support SLI the difference between 970 SLI and a GTX 1070 is so negligible it's not worth it, especially for the tradeoff in games that don't support SLI.
