So here is a quick question,

I'm trying to find what version of PCI-Express slot I have for my mother board (I got to tell you I think it 2.0) but I'm not sure.

Maybe you guys can take a look at these specs and see an answer where I can't:

This spec image has a bit more detail but I'm not sure I'm looking in the right place:

Here is a link to the motherboard page maybe some one can find the answer there:

But this card I'm thinking about buying is a clearly a PCI Express 3.0 x16

So with all that being said what kind of performance hit am I going to experience if I install a PICe- 3 card into a PICe -2 Slot?

I keep seeing posts like this on the net that make me think I'll be just fine:

But still I wanted to get a bit of feedback from the TH community before I move forward.

Hello.

Your motherboard uses a 780G/SB700 chipset, so it's limited to PCI-Express 2.0. But that's not in any way a limitation.

The difference between PCIE 2.0 and 3.0 at X16 is minimal, at around 1% at best. With a GTX 970 it will have no difference at all. Even with the best available video card (GTX 1080), the difference will be at best 1FPS. There's absolutely no bottle-necking.

So don't worry, that GTX 970 will work just perfectly. ^^

If you want raw data, see this:

3.0 X8 has the same performance as 2.0 x16.
