Plugged in both sata data/power cables and installed Samsung Magician. I went to go and format the drive so it would show up in windows explorer and when I try to format it it says "The operation did not complete because the media is write-protected. Did some basic googling, a thread I read told me to go to CMD and run Diskpart.exe and check the attributes for the disk and if it was set to read-only to clear that attribute. When I checked the attributes, it listed as follows:
Read-only: No
Hidden: No
No Default Drive Letter: No
Shadow Copy: No
Offline:: No
Bitlocker Encrypted: No
Installable: No
Volume Capacity: 48 MB
Volume Free Space: 0 B

Almost all google searches I have seen have told me to clear the read only attribute but its not set to read only so I don't know what the problem is, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the community, @slickstevens68!

I'd strongly recommend you check the SSD through its brand-specific utility and make sure its firmware is up-to-date and that the product is authentic. I'm strongly concerned about the volume capacity being 48 MB. It might also be a good idea to check the warranty on the SSD through the manufacturer's official website and see if it's genuine. I'd also suggest you go to Disk Management in Windows and see how the SSD pops up there. Sharing a screenshot from there could really help me assist you. :)

It might also be a good idea to swap the SATA cable and also try to connect the SSD externally via a SATA-to-USB cable to see how the system will recognize it then.

Let me know how it...

I figured out that the 48MB drive was actually my DVD drive that had the Samsung SSD install disc on it and it was showing up in disk manager as Samsung SSD and confused me, and found the actual drive, and was able to format it. Thanks for the help though!
