I have the ASUS B150 Pro Gaming Aura motherboard, and i'm searching for Ram for my build. The motherboard doesn't support Memory clocks over 2133 MHz. My question is if it is worth it to buy memory that has a higher clock if I was to ever upgrade my mobo or if I should stick with buying one at 2133 Mhz. Is there any performance loss besides the clock speed if I use a higher clocked Ram?

Solution
If you were to buy higher clocked RAM, it would work on your current board but would be downclocked to 2133MHz. That seems to be understood, just making sure.

If you ever upgrade your board, it would be nice to have higher clocked RAM lying around. In my opinion, anything above 2666MHz is wasting your money. In graphics intensive games that push the graphics card(s) higher than the CPU, the difference between 2133MHz and 2666MHz will be nominal. In games that push the CPU harder than the graphics card(s), you will notice a small difference. Whether or not this extra 3-5 FPS is worth the added cost of higher clocked RAM is entirely up to you.
