Im planning to upgrade my gpu but im worried that my psu isnt compatible. I have a 500w Cybertron psu and it only has one 6 pin pcie power connector. So I was wondering if I just purchased a molex to 8 pin connector if it would work correctly without harming any of my components. I have a amd 970A Krait Edition mobo. Thanks! And yes I do realize that a new psu is the best option but im on a budget and would like to go with the cheapest way possible, thanks again...

As a general rule of thumb, if your power supply doesn't have the connectors you need then it's probably not meant to power whatever device(s) you're trying to hook up.

Also note that many of these adapters are made cheaply and are usually an easy way to start a fire.

Agreed. The best way that this could end is it simply doesn't work.

If OP were to do this, any of the following could happen:
1) Power supply fails, kills system
2) Power supply fails, starts fire
3) Adapter fails, starts fire

Let's not burn down any houses today :)
