This might be amateur question but why do I see 8 cpu's on a quad core processor during a benchmark test? I'm looking to buy an i7 4790k to replace my i5 4690k to get better FPS with my GTX 1080 on bf1 and wondering if it will help with the bottleneck issue. Thanks a lot in advance for any feedback.

I apologize, you are right. I was referring to the i5 chips. They are usually doubled in logical cores.
Yes it will help,. Although single core clockspeed is more relevant than number of cores to gaming, it still helps with CPU intensive games.

The i5 4690k doesnt have hyper-threading though so if you're gettin g the reading off that it's an error.

Actually, that's slightly incorrect statement. With Intel i7 cpu lines, you have two logical cpus per one physical cpu. Ie. i7-6700K is 4 physical, 8 logical cpus.

Thanks a lot. I saw a few benchmark videos and kept seeing 8 cores then started looking for 8 core intel's and found that they were too expensive. It was the hyper threading that got me. Glad I was wrong in thinkin that's what I need needed.
